On Saturday, October 15, 2004, the ACC Health
and Medical Society participated in their first fund raiser at the annual
ACC Fall Festival. Participating in the event was Brittney Ralph,
Gwendolyn Burgess (The student organizational sponsor), Francis Kiefel,
Monica Muniz, Rebekah Hartley and Tiffany Harris. Money was raised for future field trips and to donate to the needy in the local area by selling raffle tickets for two dinners for two, a children's gift basket and by selling a lot of popcorn. Due to the smells in the air and the music from the cake walks, the competition was fierce. However, the group was able to earn $ 86.50 profit for their efforts. From those earnings, a $ 25.00 gift certificate was purchased and donated to a local family in need. It wasn't all work and no play. The students also had the chance to enjoy the festival. Many young ghouls and goblins were seen among the creepy crowd of fun! This was a good experience for the group's first fund raiser and what was learned will be applied to future fund raising events. Due to the hot humid weather, perhaps cold bottle water should be added to next years menu. Thanks again to all the volunteers who helped out and hope to see you all out there next year.
