ACC H.A.M.S. Meeting Minutes for 11/11/2004

Old Business: The meeting for November 11, 2004 was called to order by President Tiffany at 4:00p.m. There was no reading of the minutes because our secretary was unable to attend. Tiffany gave a brief report on the Fall Festival. We were able to make $96.50, which is really good considering that it was our first fundraiser. Thanks to Brittany, Rebekah, and Francis for helping. Special thanks to Gwendolyn Burgess our wonderful sponsor. The University of Houston School, of Pharmacy, Tour will be on December 3, 2004. We will need all who expects to attend to fill out a form before November the 19th . We will be leaving campus promptly at 11:30a.m., and we are scheduled to arrive by 12:15p.m. The tour will be starting around 12:30p.m. Tiffany discussed the H.A.M.S. T-shirts. She collected money from those who haven’t already paid. The T-shirts are expected to be ready for pick-up Wednesday, November 17, 2004. They can also be picked up at our next meeting.
New Business: Tiffany started a discussion on how much, if any, money we were willing to donate to a needy family. There was a unanimous vote to donated $25.00 to a local family. Gwendolyn is going to find out who exactly we will be giving the money to from Ms. Goodnight. We decided to give them a Wal-Mart gift card so they can get anything they might need. Tiffany briefly went over the Mention health issues that were being covered for the month. She showed a copy of the November flyer. We discussed the Interfaith Caring Ministries volunteering opportunity. Tiffany passed a copy of the flyer that she e-mailed around. We decided that whoever is going to be home or able to go is going to meet and go as a group on Sunday, November 28, 2004. They are going to meet around 8:30p.m. and they are going to work from 9:30a.m. to around 12:30p.m. They may meet at Gwendolyn’s house. She is going to e-mail directions. If you have any questions call Gwendolyn. We decided to have a booth at the A.C.C. Holiday Bizarre. The Bizarre will be from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. on November 19, 2004. It will be in the Texas Room which is located in or by the cafeteria. The set-up will start at 9:30a.m. Anyone who was able was asked to make baked goods. Our Bakers are: Janee, fudge-like cookies/candy; Brittany, cookies; Monica, brownies. Our workers are: Jarod, 11:00a.m.-11:45a.m.; Janee, 11:00a.m.-12:45p.m.; Brittany, 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m.; Tiffany, 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. Gwendolyn is going to print off the dates of the available open houses that UTMB has to offer. The open houses cover all health care professions and last around 5 hours. If you want you can look up their web site. If any one has any professional speakers they would like to listen to please let Gwendolyn know. She hopes to have us tour M.D. Anderson in the spring. Have a great week!!!
